Sal Meyer is a kosher staple just like Katz? Delicatessen, but in suburban Amsterdam instead of Manhattan. Even Ed van der Elksen (see our feature in Arts & Entertainment) immortalised the shop back when it was still in Jodenbreestraat in the early 60s. Deli meats, corned beef, salami, fish cakes and pickles ? and much more - are all on the menu at this little shop that?s become an Amsterdam institution. Its new location in the heart of the Jewish neighbourhood of Buitenveldert is packed with happy customers, but service is as fast as it?s friendly.
